Dorchester County provides a wide range of educational opportunities, boasting an award-winning public school system, various private and parochial school options, and over two dozen college and university campuses, ensuring comprehensive access to higher education.

Dorchester School District Two

Dorchester School District Two, one of the two districts serving the county, is a leader in education within the Lowcountry. It is the larger district, with over 26,500 students enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year.

Dorchester School District Four

Serving the growing student body of Upper Dorchester County, Dorchester School District Four provides a robust curriculum across all academic levels, from Pre-K to high school. The district focuses on career-oriented education, offering honors and advanced placement courses alongside college prep and tech programs.

Dorchester County Career and Technology Center

The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center leads the way in career and technical education, offering 18 specialized programs that equip students with skills and certifications for the workforce. Programs include fields such as Auto Collision, Architectural Design, Culinary Arts, and Welding.

A state-of-the-art, custom-designed trailer featuring hands-on simulators for various trades such as welding and truck driving travels across the state, visiting schools, fairs, career centers, and more, to promote skilled trades.

ReadySC offers comprehensive services to qualifying companies, aiming to provide them with a well-prepared initial workforce.

SC Future Makers

The South Carolina Future Makers initiative aims to connect the next generation with opportunities in the state, bridge the STEM skills gap, and retain talent for future economic growth.

DD2 CTE

Students in Dorchester District Two’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs can explore various careers and develop a pathway to becoming “College and Career Ready.”

Trident Technical College Dorchester Campus

Trident Technical College, with campuses throughout Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties, offers over 150 study programs, including online and evening classes.

Palmetto Training, Inc. offers training in CDL, CNC, welding, and forklift certification in various South Carolina locations, providing job placement assistance and monthly employer recruitment
